הרצאתו של אדריכל מיכאל מנספלד בנושא "אדריכל אל מנספלד ומוזיאון ישראל, בניין פתוח קצה", שהיתה אמורה להתקיים ב-5/4/12 ונדחתה, תתקיים ב-24/5/12

אדריכל מיכאל מנספלד ידבר בהרצאתו על מורשתו של אדריכל אל (אלפרד) מנספלד, חתן פרס ישראל באדריכלות. פרופ' אל מנספלד פיתח שיטות תכנון מודרנית לבניין תוח קצה, הצומח באופן אורגני על שטח נרחב, לאורך זמן ולפי צרכים משתנים , תוך שמירה על ה-DNA שלו והקשר שלו לסביבתו הייחודית. תכנון מקורי זה, המושתת על מתמטיקה, בלשנות, ביולוגיה ומדעים נוספים, זיכה את מנספלד בתחרות לתכנון מוזיאון ישראל ב-1959.

מאז הוא תכנן וליווה את הרחבתו ההרמונית של המוזיאון 35 שנים ברציפות. תכנון מוזיאון ישראל מבטא גם הישג אישי וגם אמת מידה למודרניזם הישראלי. מנספלד זכה לתהילה בינלאומית והשאיר אריו  מורשת אדריכלית מפוארת וגם "הוראות הפעלה" שפרס ב"אני מאמין" מפורט ומנומק. שנת 2012 היא שנת המאה להולדתו של פרופ' מנספלד (1912-2004), שהיה דיקן הפקולטה לאדריכלות בטכניון, הכשיר דורות רבים של אדריכלים משך 38 שנים, וניהל פרקטיקה פרטית ענפה ורבת השראה.

ההרצאה תתקיים באודיטוריום ראאב, במסגרת הרצאות האורח של ביה"ס לארכיטקטורה של המרכז האוניברסיטאי אריאל בשומרון, והיא פתוחה לקהל הרחב.
