"פתיחת המרכולים בשבתות טובה אולי לבעלי העסקים אך ממש לא טובה לתושבי תל אביב. רבים מן התושבים עובדים בתל אביב, ובניגוד לתושבי ערים אחרות אשר בדרכם חזרה מהעבודה יכולים לעצור לעשות קניות מחוץ לעיר בסניפי רשתות המזון הגדולים והזולים יותר מחוץ לעיר.

התל אביבים נדרשים לצאת במיוחד בכדי להגיע לסניפים הזולים, ולהזיז את מכוניתם ממקום החניה, שתי פעולות אשר אינם שמחים לבצע. לכן, בשל הנוחות, גם מבחינת חנייה, גם מבחינה גיאוגרפית וגם מבחינת העבודה (יום שבת כיום נוח ללא עבודה להשלמות וקניות).

הם יכולים להישאב ולבצע את הקניות במרכולים היקרים יותר, הפזורים ברחבי העיר, הפתוחים כעת בשבת. המחיר של נוחות זו יהיה גבוה מאוד בכיסם, ויכול להגיע גם למאות אחוזים"
