יהלום בן 813 קראט, יהלום הגלם הגדול בעולם כיום ואחד הגדולים בהיסטוריה, הובא לבורסה ליהלומים ברמת גן לצורך השלב הראשון בעיבודו – חיתוך בלייזר בטכנולוגיה מתקדמת.

היהלום נכרה במכרה קראווה בבוצוואנה ב-2015 בידי חברת הכרייה הקנדית Lucara ונרכש בידי חברת תכשיטי היוקרה דה גריסוגונו.

את העיבוד תבצע חברת דיאמונד לייזר סיסטם הישראלית המשתמשת  בטכנולוגיית "מיקרוג'ט לייזר" של חברת סינובה, בבורסה ליהלומים ברמת גן. לצורך העיבוד נדרשת רמת דיוק ומקצועיות, כדי לא לגרום לנזקים ביהלום הגלם. טכנולוגיית העיבוד בחיתוך בלייזר נחשבת למתקדמת מסוגה בעולם ומאפשרת דיוק מרבי, פגיעה מינימלית ביהלום ובזבוז מינימלי של חומר גלם. ההערכה היא שיהלום הענק הגולמי ישמש ליצירת שני יהלומים מלוטשים בגדלים של 325 ו-100 קראט, שהגדול ביניהם יהיה אחד היהלומים  המלוטשים הגדולים בעולם.

היהלום שהגיע לישראל נרכש אשתקד במכרז של חברת סוטביס, בששים ושלושה מיליון דולר, בידי חברת נמזיס מדובאי.

נשיא הבורסה ליהלומים, יורם דבש, אמר: "הבאתו של היהלום הגדול לחיתוך בלייזר בישראל ממחישה את תפקידה של ישראל כמרכז הטכנולוגי העולמי של ענף היהלומים. זהו סוג הפעילות  ביהלומים שאנו שואפים לו: יצירתי, יזמי ופורץ-דרך".
